As with many other companies Okker Gokker was founded as a very small company but has since grown to become one of the largest dealers of clothes for kids to the Danish market and has also expanded to other European markets.
Okker Gokker was started as a corporation between the 2 friends, Merete Nash and Dorthe Nielsen. They met in the 1980’ties in the public school “Margretheskolen” in Denmark. They met in the school and found out that they had a common passion for designing children’s clothes.
This was the start of Okker Gokker, and the company started up in a small basement apartment on “Østerbro” in Copenhagen. The start-up was financed with 5000 Dkr each (Approx. 670 €) and this was for sure a really small investment for starting this brilliant children’s design. Today the clothes are still being designed on Østerbro” in Copenhagen by the 2 designers Merete Nash and Dorthe Nielsen.
International children’s design clothes
It didn’t take long before it was necessary to expand, as the demand for these clothes was BIG from the start.
Not long after they opened their first store on “Ndr. Frihavnsgade, Østerbro” (Copenhagen). As their ambitions grew it didn’t take long before the next store was opened at Lyngby main shopping street. In the years to come other Okker Gokker shops have been opened in the area around Copenhagen and a online webshop has also been opened in Denmark.
On top of their own shops Okker Gokker also have a network of physical shops and online internet webshops all over Denmark, Europe and USA. They have started focusing on the markets in the rest of Europe and USA where the interest for this quality and lovely children’s clothing has been big.
Okker Gokker has not slowed down, on the contrary. Today (2006) has approximately 25 employees to design, sell and distribute the clothes and is still growing and wants to expand more and is all the time looking for new possibilities.
Range of clothes
Okker Gokker produces clothes for baby 0-2 years old and children 2-12 years and have just started designing clothes for the parents as well. They have a colour range of clothes consisting of a pink, red, green, blue and lilac range for both girls and boys. The range of products goes from socks, bodystockings for babies to dresses, trousers and skirts to the children up to 12 years old together with accessories as bibs
